It has been a while since we have had a new blog post. Given Shelby Global's increasing requests for UX research, I am excited to discuss this topic with you all. This week I am simply going to explain define UX research, explain its relationship to our other research, and introduce our new Blog series.
What is UX research?
User Experience (UX) research is the systematic investigation of users to gather insights that will inform the design process, typically software design.
Is UX research really that different from Customer Experience (CX) research?
UX and CX research pull from some of the same disciplines (e.g., social psychology, cognitive science) and utilize some of the same methods (e.g., survey research, journey mapping) However, UX research tends to use a much wider variety of quantiative and qualitative methods to gather insights with more than 20 popular methods. In addition, understanding computer science and software development is essential.
New Blog Series!
We are going to be reviewing the most popular UX research methods, including best practices, the pros and cons of the method, when to use it, and recommended software (if applicable).
